Use: This test is used to detect exposure to Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) type 2 and can provide information about a possible acute infection. More specifically, the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Type 2-Specific Antibodies, IgG test suggests previous exposure, but may not indicate that HSV is the cause of an acute illness. The Herpes Simplex Virus 1&2 IgM test indicates acute infection associate with HSV type 1 or 2. Symptoms associated with Herpes Type 2 are small red bumps, blisters or opens sores in the genital, anal or nearby areas and/or pain or itching around genital area, buttocks or inner thighs. Recommended For: Those who suspect they have been exposed to Herpes and/or are experiencing symptoms associated with the Herpes Simplex Virus.
