Use: The test detects IgM antibodies to the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis which is one of the commonest STDs. Most men/women are aymptomatic; others have itching, discharge from genitals, burning while urinating and low fever. Chlamydia is a commonly contracted STD. Symptoms in women: 3/4 of women show no symptoms, abnormal vaginal discharge, burning sensation when urinating, lower abdominal pain, low back pain, nausea, fever, pain during intercourse, and bleeding between menstrual periods. Symtoms in men: Half of men show no symptoms, discharge from penis, burning sensation when urinating, and burning and itching around the opening of the penis. It is commonly spread because many times there are no symptoms. Chlamydia is treatable with antibiotics.
