Use: This test is used to monitor recent or acute exposure to cadmium. Cadmium poisoning through industrial exposure to inorganic cadmium fumes may produce fatigue, coughing, chest pain, a burning sensation in the throat, and renal damage. The prognosis of persons with cadmium-induced renal dysfunction is unfavorable, with urinary-microglobulin and urinary protein the most important factors. Toxicity from inhaling fumes might cause pulmonary edema, lung inflammation. Chronic exposure might cause early hypertension, atherosclerosis and kidney disease. Recommended For: Detecting toxicity due to exposure at work/accidental exposure. Special Notes: No special preparation is necessary prior to blood sample collection.
