Use: Anticardiolipin antibodies are often present in individuals with the antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. Individuals with the antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) have an increased risk for stroke, myocardial infarction, venous thrombosis, thromboembolism, thrombocytopenia, and/or recurrent miscarriages. APS can be diagnosed with no underlying autoimmune disorder or it can be secondary to another autoimmune disorder. Recommended For: Patients with recurrent miscarriages, family or personal history of thromboembolic disorders. Special Notes: No special preparation is necessary prior to blood sample collection.
